Miss Maria Rivera
Maria is born and raised from Miami, Fl, and she firmly believes in heart-to-heart conversation and a good cup of coffee. She moved to Colorado to complete her B.A. In Culinary Nutrition, but is now following her call to serve at St. James. As much as she loves being surrounded by Cuban food and the ocean, she is loving her call to be near the Colorado mountains! Her passion is serving children and she loves that God is using her talents to serve the St. James community!
I am originally from Colorado. I attended Catholic schools until 8th grade and public high school. I came to love Jesus and His Church for the first time my senior year of high school. This change prompted me to transfer to Franciscan University complete both my BA in Theology and Master's degree in Theology and Catechetics. During this time I was also able to study in Rome and encounter some of the life of the early church and lives of the martyrs and apostles. I then ministered for 4 years at as a youth minister. After this God called me to St James where I worked for the last 4 years as the Religion teacher. During this time I got married and had two little boys, Jude and Blaise. Because of the wonderful change my children brought on, I am now working part-time as the administrative assistant to Mrs. Hovell. I'm incredibly excited for the school year and getting to work with your children!
