St. James Sacramental Preparation

Our Sacramental Preparation program is a two-year program that seeks to provide each child with a solid understanding of the Sacraments and their importance in our lives.

Our first concern is that our program facilitates for each student a personal encounter with Christ, who loves them beyond all measure, and that, through this meeting they are able to grow in the desire for a Christian life. For this reason the St. James Religious Education Program is strongly based on the method of the early Church and the Gospel writers. That is, the witness of given by our “catechists,” who teach with their lives and the practice of their faith, which is the beauty of Christ and His Church.

In all of our programs we also use the Faith and Life book series published by Ignatius Press in order to expose our students to the following themes:

First Communion Preparation: Creation, the Covenant with Moses, the Ten Commandments, the Life of Jesus, Redemption, Forgiveness of Sins, the Mass, and the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

Confirmation Preparation: God’s Revelation, the Prophets, the Incarnation, the Church, the Seven Sacraments, and Christian Life.

In our Confirmation Preparation program we also supplement this text with readings from the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
