St. Vincent de Paul
This ministry began in 1833, when a young univerity student and his classmates were challenged regarding their faith and the difference it was making in the world. In responding, they decided to put their faith into practice. They went into the slums and tenants of Paris visiting families in need of food, clothing and medical assistance, providing what they could with the rsources they gathered. After, a year the Conference of Charity was named for its patron, St. Vincent.
The St. James Parish FOOD PANTRY is open on the 2nd and 4th Friday's of the month from 9:00 a.m. until noon, serving over 3,241 people with food, clothing, utiliy and rent assistance last year.
The St. James Parish SANDWICH MAKERS meet every Wednesday and prepare 75 sack lunches for the Senior Support Center. All this is made possible through the generous donations of food and money given by St. James parishioners.
