Lent 2008 (Ash Wednesday Mass Schedule)
“They shall look on Him whom they have pierced.”
John (19:37)

According to Pope Benedict XVI, Lent is a time when Catholics are called to recognize the wounds inflicted upon the dignity of the human person, linking the nailing of Jesus to the cross with society's contempt for life and human exploitation. In his 1,200 word 2007 Lenten message, the Pope focuses on love, the theme of his encyclical Deus caritas est (God is Love), and the responsibility of Christians to respond with love in dealings with others:
“The response the Lord ardently desires of us is above all that we welcome His love and allow ourselves to be drawn to Him . Accepting His love, however, is not enough. We need to respond to such love and devote ourselves to communicating it to others.". . . BENEDICTUS PP. XVI

Friday Night Fish Fry and Stations of the Cross
Our FRIDAY FISH FRY is a great way to observe abstinence during Lent. The Fry is held on each of the Fridays during Lent in the Parish Hall at 5:30. The meal costs $7 for adults and $4 for children. Stations of the Cross will be held in the Church on Fridays after the Fry. The Stations remind us of Christ’s passion so that we may join our prayers with the suffering of Christ.
