JerusalemWesternWallDomesmallThe recent escalation of violence in Israel and Palestine and the tragedy in Iraq have left many homeless, injured or deceased, and there appears to be a great struggle to end this suffering and violence. We, as a people of
faith, often yearn for a way to become involved. To this end, Reverend Andres Y-Sebastian Mahanna, Pastor of St. Rafka Maronite Catholic Church, has organized an evening of inter religious prayer for peace in the Middle East.

This event will take place on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. It’s very important that we join with our brothers and sisters of other faith denominations pleading for the intercession of the Lord in achieving a peaceful end to the various conflicts.

Representatives of the Greek Orthodox Church, other Christian communities as well as leaders of Jewish and Muslim communities have been invited to share in this time of prayer for peace in the Middle East.

Archbishop Samuel Aquila is also asking that your parish become involved by scheduling a time of Eucharistic Adoration sometime during the week of August 11th to pray for peace in the Middle East. It is during this
time that the entire Catholic Community will be gathered in prayer around Our Lord.

We will open our St. James Church for everyone to come for silent prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on

Tuesday, August 12th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Church
